We will miss our Sandals………..

It is a sad week for the Laux Family. Our beloved cat was laid to rest this week after a long and happy life of 13 years. Tony and I got Sandals a few weeks after we were married. She was such an important part of our family and wonderful friend to our children. Those who really know me know that I do most of my photography work late at night when everyone is tucked in bed. Sandals was always my work buddy. Usually on my lap as I sat at the computer working. I miss her terribly as I sit and write this blog post. I actually have some beautiful pictures of her because she was always around when I was getting ready for my sessions. Many times she was my model as I set my camera and prepared the perfect spots in my backyard. Many of the smiling kids you see on my website are smiling at the kitty or trying to find her in the bushes, she was always close by. Sandals will always hold a special place in our hearts and as Marcus (2) continues to look for the “meow-meow” around the house, we will continue to miss her.

I photographed this precious little ones family around Christmas time. I was so happy to get her back in my studio. Look at those gorgeous eyes and sweet little smiles. She just sat there and modeled for me. Her little dress is the same one her sister was photographed in about 7 years ago. I love being a part of creating special memories like that.

I talked my kiddos into letting me take some Valentine pictures this year. Elmo, Star Wars, Sponge Bob, Barbie and Puppy valentines would have been the obvious choice but I’m excited that these won out this year. They looked so cute printed! I know their Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts and Uncles were excited to get these in the mail.

Oh my, pure perfection! Gorgeous skin, perfect little newborn curl and he slept the entire time. We had to wake him at the end of the session to get a few shots with his eyes open. He was just an angel. I couldn’t wait to meet him!! You may have noticed my previous blog post that said “do not open until January”, well he almost waited until February. He made his mommy and daddy wait on their Christmas present for a LONG time. I was so happy to finally hear the news that he had arrived. Eight days later, he was in my studio as handsome as can be. I can’t wait to show them his entire gallery. For now, here is a sneak peek.

I know exactly what is it like to have a boy first and then welcome a girl to the family. You go from having cars, trucks, balls and blue everywhere to being showered in pink. This is no exception for this family. I LOVE to see the interaction between little Caelan and her big brother even at this early stage. Just knowing that he is going to always be watching out for her. I love that we were able to capture these sweet moments in just the first few days of her life. Not to mention, Mr. B was incredibly photogenic as you can see. What a gorgeous, gorgeous family!!

Oh my goodness, what a little peanut. She was just gorgeous and SO tiny. Her Mommy and Daddy were just as gorgeous. For many new families, coming to my home studio is their first real outing with their new bundles. I love to make the experience as comfortable as possible. We really take our time to make sure that the session is enjoyable for all. If baby needs to eat or just needs time to get comfortable I always make sure that is possible. This session was no exception. We had to wait a bit for little Madison to fall asleep but in the mean time she showed me her big beautiful eyes. We had so much fun together and I can’t wait to see her back in 6 short months.

This little darling was an absolute joy! I have photographed her big brother several times but this session was ALL for her. We pulled out all of the pink that we could. She was such a sweetie the entire session. She curled up so sweet and then decided to wake up and show me her pretty eyes. Her birth announcement was a lot of fun to create as well. It was as girly girl as you can get.

I have taken a little break from my blog to get some administravite things done after an amazing 2009. Once again I was blessed to work with wonderful clients. I had so much fun meeting new people, finding new locations and spending time with talented photographer friends. It is always fun to share ideas and learn new techniques. I have recently redecorated my studio space and I can’t wait for all of my returning clients to see it. So, lots in store for Kami Laux Photography for 2010. Cheers to what is going to be a fabulous year!

I have so many sessions to share with you. I have had the pleasure of meetings lots of precious newborn babies over the last month. I look forward to working with them all this year as they reach their milestone birthdays. Look for blog posts about their sessions in the next week.

For now, I leave you with a picture of my display at Cuppy’s Coffee at the Hamilton Town Center. In honor of the Super Bowl, GO COLTS!!!
