I have always wanted to capture this moment in time mainly because I would LOVE to have something like this of my own birth experiences. I think it is such a miracle when these special beings enter the world, how in an instant our lives are changed forever. You dream for 9 months of what the baby is going to look like and what the future holds for the miracle you have created. When my friend Heather asked me to photograph the birth of her 4th child I prayed that things would work out for it to happen. I slept with my phone under my pillow for weeks thinking I would get the call in the middle of the night that it was time. It took me back to the anticipation of when my own babies were born, the excitement of not knowing when he/she would make the entrance into this big world. The stars aligned for me to be there to capture the birth of Holden Andrew Jones. I told her when we planned it all that I would be there but she may not realize it. I did not want to interfere at all with this intimate moment between a husband and wife. I slipped in and captured everything they needed to remember this event. I gave Holden a snuggle before I left and was on my way. What they now have is his story captured on film that they will be able to show future generations. I set the BW images to music and I still cry every time I watch it. I feel honored to have been there and I’m so happy that they now have this special keepsake. With their permission I am posting a few of the images to my blog. You can see the joy and the love in each image. They did not know if he was a boy or girl so I’m so glad I was able to capture the “it’s a boy” moment. Another favorite image was when they placed Holden in his mother’s arms for the first time. That picture still gives me chills to this day. Together for 9 months and then separated for a few short minutes, she couldn’t wait to get him in her arms. For several years now I have been photographing some adorable families from Washington Court House, Ohio. This is the town where my mom grew up and a town full of wonderful memories of my childhood. We would visit my grandparents there often. I jumped at the chance to go back to visit some family friends but also to meet new ones. Between session I visited some of my favorite childhood spots. Tony and I ate at the Court View and Frisch’s and of course had cookies from Atkinsons bakery. It was so nice to be back. I did go there on a mission to photograph 7 adorable families. We used the location of the family business and it was just perfect. I will be delivering their beautiful portraits, canvases and coffee table books this weekend. I can’t wait for them to see the finished products. We have talked about making this an annual event and I hope that more families want to join in. The next several blog posts took place at Halliday Lumberyard, ENJOY!!!!!!!
